As the heat rises up from the ground
swirling and coughing
in dragon's myst
I find myself at the
center
whirling
wondering
wandering
and remembering
the stone memories
moments
that fill up my life
fill up my heart
and bring smiles
and miles
to my eyes.

Today they fill with tears
as the memories
flow
and I
drench myself in each one.

And so I am paralyzedfrozen
and I am so deep inside them
that I forget the glow of today
except
to find a new batch
of tears and memories and smiles and love and...
so I linger on...

FLYING MONKEYS ON THE WING

Though some have gone to the stars, their light shall ever shine and grace the memory with honor.
The dream is thus held holy by those who see and in one's own small way attempt to improve the betterment as one well placed word can change the world forever.  Fine art painting, drawing, poetry, music and all forms of expression enrich the experience of being.  I don't know where I am going with this or exactly what I am trying to say. Imagine that...Smile!  Yet as one embraces a glory of a moment they are driven to share the terrible beauty of the universe and enhanse the gift of life.

Talking about Flying Monkeys The Times They Are

Quote

Flying Monkeys The Times They Are
As I lay my head to the pillow in these troubled times I hear the wind chimes and wake to recall, and wake to wake,  and thank God for each day that I wake and walk the dreams.  See touch and taste the sky.  It is a marvel and a miracle.  A blessing and grace.  As ever the world turns there are those who desire through poetry and action to make it better.  In recent times I recall a Bob Dylan song and lyrics.  Right or left, center, green or extreme The Times They Are A Changin words and lyrics by Bob Dylan.

"The Times They Are A-Changin'

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin' " Written by Bob Dylan

Has Man a Future? Quote by Bertrand Russell
I am re reading HAS MAN A FUTURE?  Written by Bertrand Russell and came upon the following quote:
" If the world would live for a few generations without war, war
would come to seem as absurd as dueling has come to seem to us.
No doubt there would still be some homicidal maniacs, but they
would no longer be heads of Governments."  Bertrand Russell

Flying In The Wind

There are times when one just needs to be and find a space between the words to communicate.  Yeah, I am ok.  Older and better.  The other day Mom told me that my Father has only days or weeks. I can not go home now but will go for the Military Memorial Service when the time comes.  I went out and walked under the sky in a place between the words.  Clouds and blue as I had never seen as I walked the wind and the wind walked right through me in my prayers.  In the space between the words I was flying in the wind.

Recently a friend from Austria translated the following piece in German.  You may visit http://feecolora.spaces.live.com to read the translation.  While I was re reading the post my thoughts were good and I hope yours are too.

LIBERTY AND DRAGON-ECLIPSE, MAGIC, MYTH AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE MOON

Liberty stepped softly from the clouds and spread her wings then soared.  White feathers stretched  as she sailed and the Sun light glinted all around her, in the clear blue and the twilight she found the Dragon and thwacked him on the snout.  There was a quiet rumble and a puff of smoke as the Dragon began to wake.  One red eye, then the other opened, to see Liberty.  The Dragon then smiled and wagged his tail.  Or rather, slapped and thumped it in the Cave.
Liberty was rubbing her right elbow and smiling at the Dragon as she folded her wings and said,

" Dragon, did you see the Eclipse last night?  It was so glorious and a moment to behold."
The Dragon sat upright and wiped the sleep from his eyes, took a drink of dragon brew and cleared his throat, then said.  " Of course I saw the Eclipse, I made the Moon look red!"  With a small puff and an expression of indignation.  Rather child like in a dragon sort of way.  Liberty was right there.
"Silly Dragon, you had nothing to do with the Eclipse or the color of the Moon. These are not the Olden Days."  She said, in a firm but gentle voice.
The Dragon put his claws together, looked down and there was a slight twitch of his tail.  He was silent for several moments, staring off into Space.   Liberty just stood there and touched his head, graced his brow and patted him like he was an old dog.  Warm and friendly.  The love of eternety returned and there was a spark in his eye as he said.
" Yeah, I know the Olden Days are gone.  That is why I slumber so.  You look better than ever!  Why do you keep rubbing your elbow?"  The dragon then took another draw of the dragon brew as Liberty smiled and replied.
" It is nothing, but a slight pain from holding the Torch.  More of this later."  She said and sat next to the Dragon with a wing and an arm around him.
Head to head they nustled in silence as the worlds and words spun about them.  The memory of the Olden Days and the New Worlds and thoughts of their place These Days.  Oh, there the memory of Liberty and Dragon danced with the Lords and Ladies, the Faries and Angels people of the forests, rock, stone, river, streams, oceans and all the Saints and Fires that glimmer in the night and imagination.  That have ever been and ever shall be......Then Dragon held out his hand and said with a smile.  " Sissor, rock, or paper?"   Liberty laughed out loud!  A laugh that rings in all things, it was so sharp and sweet.
She smiled at the Dragon, rubbing her elbow.  Then Said, " Dear Dragon, it is written somewhere that in the Beginning Was the Word.  The Word became that which gave us life in the mind of humanity.  There we have given Humanity the beauty of the Myth, the Magic and healing quality of words.  The poets and the Muse.  The Dream of the Other Worlds and the beauty of All."
There they both sat in profound silence and reviewed the sad state of human history.  All the terror, wars, greed, disaster, famon, starvation, man's cruelty to man's own kind and the rape and pilliage of the Planet that gave them birth.  Sacred sweet life, the ability.  The desire, the Dream.
Liberty, sighed and said, "  My elbow is sore from holding the Torch," as she held the Dragon and wept.
The Dragon, wiped her tears and said, " Dear Liberty, though they need us not in the times of their own making and folly.  They need us forever in the beauty of the Myths, Magic and Glory of it All.
"Yes, there we shall ever be."  Liberty spread her wings and soared with a song of Freedom holding high the Torch for All to see the Light.

To me, the beauty of the myth, is as dear as the reality.  There we are able to examine our heritage as our heritage is paramount to the future.  We need and desire fiction that is more than entertainment.  Thus, we were given the Word and the desire to share.

Just Do It In Pictures…

So you are wondering about buying a digital camera then you question as to if you would truly make use of it. Then you wonder about the expense, is it worthwhile, or how much of an investment must you make? All good questions with a variety of answers and all dependent on your budget and what you hope to achieve.

There are many moderately priced cameras with point and shoot features perfect for the person that wants to have remembrances of a vacation or simply outings. For a very moderate investment you can take pictures and decide which ones are worth printing and discard the rest. You are able to save photos to your computer or disk and can print them later at anytime.

Some want more from their equipment including docking stations and the ability to print their own prized pictures. Others have great aspirations of becoming professional photographers and turning their investment into a business. No matter where you find yourself, how simple or complex your aspirations there is a camera for you and joy for you to discover in your own way.

                                                                  Iman

My main reason for a camera was simple a dog named Iman a beautiful black Standard Poodle. I wanted to create a picture journal as she grew from puppyhood. From there I started taking pictures of things I love in nature. My learning has continued as I try new things, new settings notice color, light and composition however these are all personal choices. If I am enjoying my treasure that is all I need if others appreciate them then bonus. Creativity is something to do for yourself, your expression and both your learning and pleasure.

                                                         An Evening Walk

There is no need to invest your life savings to simply have fun or to capture a moment in time, however memories are something you may want to remember in vivid color.

Everybody needs his memories.  They keep the wolf of insignificance from the door.  ~Saul Bellow~

How Do You Decide Truth…

It seems this election has brought out the worst in human behavior especially when it comes to the Democratic Party. We either look at or ignore the baggage that Hillary Clinton brings to the table, not to mention what Bill’s agenda really might be. One has to question if he is simply supporting his spouse or campaigning for his own agenda, another kick at the Presidency albeit under the desk this time. It seems Hillary is having a likeability and honesty issue not to mention angry woman syndrome. Seems she is a down to earth gal, just like us although she and her husband live on a budget we might only dream to win in a lottery.

Would these be considered actual truths or media labels, taglines?

Barack Obama seems he is too black or not black enough. His patriotism is in question because of a lapel pin. First he was thought to be Muslim then confirmed to be a Christian, now a man who was his pastor has taken center stage because of comments he made and it seems Barack is responsible for. He is an educated man an accomplished law professor and an award winning author. He is a successful man, however now he is too smart and an elitist no less who owns four average priced suits. Seems he is seen as superior even though he comes from a biracial family, raised by a single working mother.

Would these be considered actual truths or media labels, taglines?

Now it seems John McCain for the moment is not concerned about his truth as presently there is no competition, or need to listen or even to compare truth. He is not competing for a nomination as he has secured it already. He is presently out of the spotlight and safe from scrutinizing eyes albeit for the moment. He does plan on being in Iraq for 100 years if need be.

Would these be considered actual truths or a media labels, taglines?

It is not for me to question which candidate or party you vote for, however it should be in actual truth, and it should be in hope for a better tomorrow, solutions! I keep hearing many say they are “not happy with anyone”, or they are voting for the “lesser of three evils”. Some are even openly voting for or against race, ethnicity. It seems these are all sad reasons to vote and sad reason to evoke you’re hard fought voting right.

Perhaps I am simply naïve or perhaps it is because I live in a truly multicultural society, but somehow I thought racism, ethnicity was over, in the past. I thought somehow there was hope in the electoral process. Perhaps as a neighbor and ally I am looking for hope, not only for America at home but for America on the world stage and for how this election concerns the world in general. What happens in America affects us all eventually, somehow, someway, we are all impacted. We all have our thoughts and views and we wait, we wait for you to choose fairly and honestly with vision of a better tomorrow and with unequivocal truth.

Each candidate comes from a different time and place; they all have generational differences so it is up to you to decide who truly has vision for tomorrow. Try to ignore gender, blue eyes, silver hair or black skin and read what each of the candidates stand for.

Here are the links to each Candidate for your reading:  Clinton        Obama       McCain

The Seventh Word

First the A vogal it's the begin
starts a cicle of life
second the consonant B its the God relationship
continues the great mistery and miracle of love
third without a C the son don´t exists
if one or more these elements are living alone
sadness, lonelyness the memories makes a deep pain
the alphabet runs up to S and stops
freeze the vogal and consonant
its writes in the mind an impossible return
a tears' oceans appears
First the A vogal its the begin
without B i feel saudades
and the B and C are you

To Stephen and all Flying Monkeys Menbers With Love

JouElam,27-04-2008

"In his book In Portugal of 1912, A.F.G Bell writes:

The famous saudade of the Portuguese is a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness.

Saudade is different from nostalgia (the English word, that is). In nostalgia, one has a mixed happy and sad feeling, a memory of happiness but a sadness for its impossible return and sole existence in the past. Saudade is like nostalgia but with the hope that what is being longed for might return, even if that return is unlikely or so distant in the future to be almost of no consequence to the present. One might make a strong analogy with nostalgia as a feeling one has for a loved one who has died and saudade as a feeling one has for a loved one who has disappeared or is simply currently absent. Nostalgia is located in the past and is somewhat conformist while saudade is very present, anguishing, anxious and extends into the future.

For instance, the phrases "Tenho saudades tuas" (literally, "I have 'saudade' for you") and "Eu sinto a tua falta" ("I feel your absence") would each be translated into English as "I miss you" — both "falta" and "saudade" are translated as "missing." However, these two statements carry very different sentiments in Portuguese. The first sentence is never told to anyone in person, but the second can be. For example, The first would be said to someone who has been away for sometime, it would be said over the phone or written in a letter. The second would be said by someone who has divorced, or whose partner is not usually at home, and would be said personally.

Some say that the ultimate form of saudade is one felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown in regards to any of the following things or circumstances:

·        Old ways and sayings

·        A lost lover

·        A far away place where one was raised

·        One lover sadly missing another

·        Loved ones who have passed away

·        Feelings and stimuli one used to have but has tired of

·        One's youth

Although it relates to feelings of melancholy and fond memories of things/people/days gone by, it can be a rush of sadness coupled with a paradoxical joy derived from acceptance of fate and the hope of recovering or substituting what is lost by something that will either fill in the void or provide consolation.

One of the best descriptions of the word saudade was made by Chico Buarque de Hollanda on his song Pedaço de mim, when he says. "saudade é arrumar o quarto do filho que já morreu." which roughly translates to "saudade is to tidy the bedroom of a son who has already died."

CAN'T FIND MY WAY HOME.  Author Steve Winwood.  1969  BLIND FAITH.

Come down off your throne
And leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason
I've been waiting so long
Somebody holds the key
Well, I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And, I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

Come down on your own
And leave your money at home
Somebody must change
You are the reason
I've been waiting all these years
Somebody holds the key
I'm near the end, and I just ain't got the time
Oh, and I'm wasted, and I can't find my way home

Ooow, ooow, ooow... But I can't find my way home
Ooow, ooow, ooow... But I can't find my way home
Ooow, ooow, ooow... But I can't find my way home
Ooow, ooow, ooow... But I can't find my way home
Still, I can't find my way home
And, I ain't done nothing wrong
But, I can't find my way home

Ode To Mother Nature on Earth Day

God has many faces and regardless of how you view God or whether "God" is just some higher power you feel is at the center of all things in the universe, this poem sums up the greatness of one of "God's" finest creations...the almighty tree. The words are serene, yet powerful.  Their simplicity is captivating and timeless. The message is clear...everyday is a day to be in awe of nature and that our home, our planet deserves our respect and tender loving care.

TREES

by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
      Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
      And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
      A nest of robins in her hair;

      Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
      Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Are You Green?

Regardless of what political philosophy best suits you and your lifestyle, the problem of global warming effects everyone who calls Earth their home.  This is a real crisis that we no longer can ignore.  All those tomorrows we've always talked about have finally vanished.  Tomorrow is today and the time is NOW to take a stand and to make a difference. Below is a list of ways each person can go "green" and help our planet survive. It was "borrowed" from An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary I highly recommend:

Buy energy-saving appliances.
Look for the “ENERGY STAR” label when you shop. Visit www.energystar.gov for more information.

Install efficient shower heads.
Or at least clean your older shower head to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and water use.

Lower the temperature in your hot water tank to 120 degrees.

Insulate your home, hot water heater, and all water pipes.

Recycle cans, bottles, paper, plastic, and newspapers to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. If your community doesn’t offer recycling services, request them.

Buy products that are made of recycled materials.
Including recycled paper for your printer.

Keep car tires inflated.
This cuts down on fuel costs, unnecessary emissions, and lengthens the life of your tires.

If buying a new car, invest in a hybrid.
If you live in a city and do a lot of stop-and-go driving, the new hybrids are a great way to help cut back on emissions.

Plant deciduous trees around your home to increase shade and lower carbon amounts. Reforestation – even in your own back yard – is one of the best ways to balance your personal emissions.

Invest in “Green Power” for electricity in your home.
See www.epa.gov/greenpower for more information.

Go to http://yosemite.epa.gov/oar/globalwarming.nsf/content/ActionsIndividual.html for more information about what individuals can do to make a difference in the environment.

Who is the most genius?

"I was always anarchist and monarchist also." Yes, Dali was... I had written a book critique about Salvador Dali's autobiography in 1995. About a genius person and his life. Of course a life of a genius will be different all of the others. Especially, if he is an artist. I will share some sections with you from that essay:

It is Dali's diary. The big crazy, genius, enthusiastic surrealist Salvador Dali had written all about his life in it. Every kind of inspiration, hump, his wife Gala, aesthetics, ethics, philosophy, biology etc... Michel Daon is saying in introduction like that: "He is sensible about his genius. And this feeling is putting him at ease as usual. (...) This diary is a collosal art. Unprovided with humility but sincere. The writer is giving away his secrets with an unlimited humour, with pomp and circumstance, with a brazen arrogance."

Dali is not an ordinary student in his childhood. Sometimes he had made an impression ineducable fool, sometimes he had felt a big desire and stability for his lessons. The first brick which had fallen on his head is Nietzsche. This brick had appalled him. "What?!.." "Is God dead?!.." He had began to read Thus Spoke Zarathustra and comes to this decision in just the second day: "Nietzsche was a powerless man as much as to become insane. However, the basic principle is not to lose wits in the world. And this ideas had become the basic principles of his life: "The difference between an insane and me is that I am not insane."

The left picture is Face of Mae West (1935), the right one is also, Gala. "Super woman" Gala is Dali's "superman". He believes that she is his fate. I found some photos in internet about Gala, Dali and his artistic works. Dali had painted Mae West's portrait. I looked at that portrait and influenced so much. When I apposed Mae West and Gala, my hair stood on end. Do you see the same with me? There is an interesting similarity. As if a weird mutation...

There are three genius in this page. Guess who is the most genius?

Welcome To The Flying Monkeys Home For The Future
Thank you Karen for a shot in the arm.  http://abnorms.spaces.live.com

FLYING MONKEYS BELOW ZERO NO LIMIT
INTRODUCTION AND ON THE WING!
Please forgive my absence the world took some of the air out of my wings.  When Flying Monkeys was deleted.....I fell for a bit in wonder of why because it hurt.  Not me, mind you.  It hurt the world.  Well, the Flying Monkeys are back!  Sub zero here at the moment but in your world I pray that you and yours are safe and warm, well fed and in good spirits and good health.  I am ok for an old baldy dork with a dream.  Smile.

All you valentines and valentinos I wish the very best!
Welcome back to the Brave New World Old West.....As Bob Dylan once wrote.
" My love she speaks like silence,
Without ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her." Written by Bob Dylan Love Minus Zero No Limit.

As ever be well.   With love,  Stephen Craig Rowe

If you are one of those people who don't think that going organic is much of a big deal, or worth the cost, I suggest you to read this link as above. Would you want your own children to drink milk that is not of a real natural born animal? It shows you how scary with the way things are going now in our own world, and the fact that FDA no longer cares about our well being nor our Earth but their own greed gain in profits that they are going to be making off us people who are still in the dark about what's really going on in the background.

There are already many signs that indicates that our Earth is in serious trouble with the global warming. Of course, there are going to be people that work within government systems telling you lies and that it does not exist, but it does. Did you know that by buying conventional food, you are helping in killing our Earth and its natural products with all kinds of chemicals? What people are not aware of is that the global warming is the real reason for our destruction by the pesticides, fumes, and all kinds of toxics.

I cannot emphasize the importance in supporting our local farmers who try to do the organic way, producing natural foods without pesticides, hormones, insectides, and all kinds of chemicals. If you were to buy organic products, you will be helping us getting our voices to be heard. If more people would start buying organic products, it will let the government know that we are not going to put up with their deceptions, and lies any longer.

Some people are afraid that if they eat organic, we are likely to get E coli, and all kinds of bacterias, I don't believe it to be true, because conventional foods are full of poison than organic foods. Organic foods are without additives, preservatives, and any kinds of chemicals. Of course the organic products have low shelf life, that's to be expected because it has no preservatives or chemicals to keep them fresh longer like conventional foods. Think about it. I mean how did the MAD COW DIEASE exist in the first place? Didn't it occur to you that our real wild life animals do not ever get sick until they were captured and caged, shot up with all kinds of antibotics. I strongly believe that cows that are not fed antibotics and hormones, etc. are much healthier, and not to mention happier than the ones that are being rounded up with other animals with no room for them to roam freely, and they also die the harsh way. Animals should be eating the way the nature intended for them to eat, not eating off other animals' feces, decaying guts lying around. Did you know that farmers that do not support organic way tend to feed the meat that they couldn't market to its own animals? Chickens, and its family should be eating corn, horses should be eating hay, cows should be eating grass like the way nature intended them to be.

If that is not a good enough reason for you to go organic, then consider the fact that our young girls of today's society are growing faster, and they grow big chest. It has to do with the hormones from the animals that we eat, and the milk that we drink that are full of all chemicals. The real reason why they use hormones, and antibotics, not for "health sake" but to speed up the production. Not only that, but the sad truth is that FDA and its government DO NOT WANT YOU to know the truth that they are in to MAKE MONEY off us by making us sick, and make us pay more money in medical care. My family have noticed the difference in me, I used to be so tired and never have enough energy, until I went organic. Unlike conventional fruits, you miss out on a lot of nutrients that can only be found in organic foods. If you don't believe me or don't know what I am talking about, then I suggest you to go to your store, and see about organic fruits such as apples. Ask your grocer if they have organic apples, and then compare an organic apple and conventional apple to see for yourself. You will notice a big difference, as the conventional apple is pretty and shiny while an organic apple is not shiny, and it might have some discoloration, but that is the way the nature had intended it to be. Conventional apple is full of toxicity, and it has a gunk of wax on it. Yuck! My only regret is that I did not learn about this long time ago, but at least, I am educating myself now. Better late than never, right? So it is never too late for you to change your conventional eating lifestyle to organic eating lifestyle! Smile.

The Television Power

An aggression that lasted some minutes has given for hours of programming in all the television channels (In Spain).  that everybody condemns. After all Spain saw the images  in the television, the racism is the theme of the most comments.

The case is unacceptable, intolerable and requires an exemplary punishment... but only is the tip of the iceberg.  600 cases of discrimination were documented in Spain this year and it seems that nobody cares...

Why?  Because nobody knows it, we do not watch them in television...

For Example:

-Today I read in the newspaper that the aggressor of an economist Congolese is  without bail in the street,  (the victim is in a wheelchair forever)  (CLICK HERE) (sorry, link is in Spanish language)...

-In Zaidin ( Huesca) there is 1800 inhabitants. ..264 are immigrants...  Immigrants are not allowed to have a meal with the local people in the town that celebrates the end of the festivals (CLICK HERE) The mayor says: "One must put control, because the immigrants would fill the tables and not the people of the town"...
And I ask me...  Who are raising the economy of that town?  Inmigrants also live there.

- Some police officers (protected by a false sense of the Law) give a different deal to the immigrants (CLICK HERE)  This is denounces repeatedly by International Amnesty.

All these cases and many more go unnoticed... The same thing would occur with the case of  (see Videoclip) the individual that hit to the ecuadorian girl on the metro of Barcelona, but a camera recorded it all,  without that he would go unpunishment.

This action should not remain unpunished, deserves an exemplary punishment.

Although in Spain, the racists are minority, the facts occur with certain frequency. All we should imply us against the racism...  because  is not  a camera always recording the acts.

Ahhhhh and what about the witness that observes the action without doing nothing??? Impassive while the other one kicked the girl,  as if nothing was happening, without helping her. So much fault has the aggressor as the one that permits the aggression... It is a terrible thing to be watching someone hiting someone whitout helping defenseless person... What ashame!!

All Spain is speaking of this... in the television, in the newspapers, in the street, from  the origin country of the girl , the authorities  are  requiring  responsibilities ... Public opinion requires justice and an exemplary punishment for the aggressor.

Many aggressions pass unnoticed. ... but thanks to television  this act will be punished.

(This video is in Spanish Language, but the action is seen clearly. I didn't find the English version)

BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CRUEL

Even the people that show some sensibility toward the environment , that want to protect the biodiversity …sometimes we are being tremendously unjust by ignorance.

I am going to explain:  I go shopping... and if I find something that I like or something that need, I buy it ... I don't think anything

BUT…Cosmetic companies usually do not have scruples. The product that they sell  has glamour, is beautiful and well presented and many times it is very expensive… that it be expensive is not sign that it be insurance, at times the frivolity can cost us very expensive in our health.

Besides of the possible secondary effects (for example: lipsticks with lead in their composition) we should value the BEFORE… the majority of the cosmetic companies and of cleaning of the home test their products in animals before putting them to sale.

Why?  When I buy a shampoo for my dog, it cannot be a shampoo for people, the hair of a dog has nothing to do with ours. If  the cosmetics are for humans, the logical thing is that the tests be carried out in humans… I looking for information for this post I have found unlimited barbarities, authentic atrocities that  I didn't know and that have left my soul shrunk and with a sensation of infinite sadness.

I have proposed me to be an INTELLIGENT BUYER,  report me before and when really I need a product, to be sure that has not been tested on animals (at times is difficult  to know it, the businesses try to hide it, is damaging for the sales).

Only the 10% of the 85000 cosmetic products  have been analyzed to control the possible adverse effects that can cause in our health… The frivolity is being very expensive for us...  really we do not know what we are using, although before we have tested it in animals.

For example: If the cosmetic is a foam to shave ¿why they put it to presion to an animal in his stomach?... If it is a tooth-paste ¿why  rabbits, rats and guinea pigs are forced to swallow it? …

Why animals have to suffer for that we be more good-looking?

Numbers are scandalous... more than 400 million animals die yearly in the world on account of the experimentation, 60 million  are dead by cosmetic tests.

Really I believe that we have to change our  priorities, changing our scale of values and trying to meet again the equilibrium with the environment, that is the way, protecting  the biodiversity and the different habitats, acting as "the absolute owners of the world" only will carry us to a announced disaster

Talking about SAUDADE PAGE FOUR OR FIVE

Quote

SAUDADE PAGE FOUR OR FIVE
SAUDADE,
A poem in my own words inspired by JouElam+SophiE  http://Eloha.spaces.live.com

INTRODUCTION:  SAUDADE is a Portugese word that was given
to me in love and friendship.  I can not translate this word, I
can only write what I feel.

Saudade

Echo in the valley
Cry in the night
Free and alone
Trickle in the
moon lit streams
That flow from
My eyes
onto the windows
In the keypad
That scratches
Only a high held note
The Violin
Trembles
Splashing wine
On streets that shine
With tears soaked in
Memory
Of those near and dear.
Of those that have ever been and ever shall be.
Of those that have risen'
Of those that sing
Of those that are
Of the Light and Spirit.
Of the woods, rain, forests, grasses, trees, limbs and
Leaf sparkle
Dew drip dawning
Rainbow brow smile
Reflect the night Sky
Stars
Dance in
The glistening drop
Waving at the shore
Foaming and breaking on the rocks
Receed, Smile at the Moon.
Reflect in the pond
Skipping stones
and remember.
SAUDADE,
Home is where the
Art is, forever home
Or away
Within the All.

SAUDADE!  As ever be well.  With love,  Stephen Craig Rowe

Saudade

Ecoa no vale

pranto na noite

livre e abandonada

lua de fluxos brilhantes

iluminando os minúsculos córregos

que escorrem debruçados

nas janelas dos meus olhos

apenas a tecla em arrepios

tremúlos

é o sustenido

o violino

segurando uma nota altíssima

derramando o vinho do nosso copo

luz do espírito

dos bosques, das florestas , das chuvas , da relva , das arvores , dos troncos , das folhas

faísca

gota d' orvalho amanhecendo

sorriso na sobrancelha do arco-íris

estrelas

reflectidas no Céu noturno

about THE ENVIRONMENT

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

I am not going to speak of large campaigns... I want to speak of the day by day, with small acts ,we can achieve a great change...

Who says to making changes is an easy task?  We are used to a "culture of well-being", to the "I want something, and I want it now"... and then, I already do not want it and throw it away, because the most comfortable and cheaper thing to do is to replace it with a newer one instead of re-using it.

We all know that the substancial changes are executed from above: from the political power of every country... we are also aware that we are the ones who select the politicians.

How are citizens supposed to collaborate, so that things are change? How can we contribute in the protection of the biodiversity and of the environment?

It is kind of complicated. First, we have to fight against ourselves; we are constantly looking for comfort, getting sluggish, using things and then thowing them away, and looking for instant self-satisfaction (otherwise we get frustrated)... We have to stop acting childish; we are not children anymore; so, there is no excuse. It is time for us to act as mature adults.

Examples:  -It is easier to use paper napkins rather than cloth ones.

                   - It is more comfortable for us to let the supermarket provide us with bags than taking our own ones.

                   - Why setting the heater to a high temperature and then having to open the windows?

We have to seriously ask ourselves what benefits we are getting in the long run. It es much easier to throw away all the garbage without separating the different components; it is simpler to throw away rather than to re-use... But to recycle in the long rus is cheaper for all of us because the recycled product reduce the need to cut trees, of using oil or another type of energy and water an air will be less contaminated. We will definitely improve the environment and feel much better...

What's better than to put into practice the Law or 3 R: To reduce, To re-use an To recycle

TO REDUCE the consumption of energy and of all kinds of polluting products, to reduce the quantity of garbage that we generate by buying in the corret form ( avoiding unnecessary packing)

TO RE-USE: use bags several times before throwing them away, using boxes again (for keeping things) instead of buying new ones; to re-use paper, crystal bottles; use canisters to keep the pencils...

TO RECYCLE: separate plastic, paper, aluminum or glass in the designated containers... It is possible to recover up to 40% of the paper and cardboard helping keep more trees intact.

I do not say that it is an easy and comfortable task, we are used to wasting. Wd do not have much time left; the no return point is closer than what we think. Not only we have to meke changes ourselves, but also we have to teach our children to live in tune with the environment as well: taking care of the biodiversity, loving the other living things with which we share habitat; after all, we are closely attached since we depend from one another. If we finish with the environment, we are unleashing our own end.

Ways in which we can collaborate:

Estrella - Choosing recycling products and recyclables.

Estrella - Buying organic products in which chemicals or pesticides have not been used.

Estrella - Distributing the garbage at home selectively.

Estrella - Using recycled paper... using glass instead of plastic.

Estrella - Not using products that damage the ozone layer.

Estrella - Buying cosmetic products that have not been animal tested.

Estrella - Turning off those lights that we do not need.

Still is not to late to make changes... Let's remember: Whoever wants to make a change, can do it... and whoever can do it, must do it.

Talking about Painting Studio and Flying Monkeys Online International New World News

Painting Studio and Flying Monkeys Online International New World News
The PAINTING STUDIO and FLYING MONKEYS MSN WINDOWS LIVE SPACES NEW WORLD NEWS.
In one of my wilder dreams while recovering from surgery a few years ago I created FLYING MONKEYS as an international collaboration of friends.  Who became Contributing Editors, Roving Reporters or whatever.  As founder and managing editor, I remained in the background and let the FLYING MONKEYS Space evlove on it's own.   The works and words contributed were beyond my concept and a great beauty and peace prevailed with the efforts of my friends.  Without guide lines, rules, or a plan....everyone contributed for the betterment.
On Friday October 12 of this year I received an urgent message that Flying Monkeys had been deleted.  For a moment my heart quit beating and the dream became WTF?   I was like all that fine work is cactus ( as in cactus fuktus ).  My Dear Friend Sassene was quick enough to pick up some of the pieces and bring the FLYING MONKEYS back to life.  She worked late in the night for the banner and headline.  We will not change that out of love and respect.   Other than that, there are no rules only conscience, respect, quality and desire for the betterment.  This is not about me or my dream.  I am only a simple painter and sometimes bad poet.  Who needs the world and the space between the words, and the Light.
As ever be well.  With love, Stephen Craig Rowe

11:41 EST

I came across this poem on Sandra's space http://sanddeemc.spaces.live.com/ .  It touched me as it touched her - each for our own reasons.  May it touch you as well.

An Old Woman
(Note: This poem was found in the bedside table of an elderly woman living in an extended care facility upon her death.) It is unfortunate that the author is not noted.

What do you see nurses,
What do you see?
Are you thinking,
When you look at me;
A crabby old woman,
Not very wise
Uncertain of habit,
With far away eyes,
Who dribbles her food,
And makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice
 'I do wish you'd try',
Who seems not to notice
The things that you do,
And forever is losing
A stocking or shoe,
Who, unresisting or not,
Lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding,
The long day to fill,
Is that what you're thinking,
Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes nurse.
You're not looking at me.
As I'll tell you who I am,
As I sit here so still,
As I rise at your bidding,
As I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of ten
With a mother and father
Brothers and sisters,
Who love one another,
A young girl of sixteen,
With wings on her feet,
Dreaming that soon now
A lover she'll meet;
A bride soon at twenty;
My heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows
That I promised to keep;
At twenty-five now
I have young of my own,
Who need me to build
A secure, happy home.
A young woman of thirty,
My young now grow fast,
Bound to each other
With ties that should last;
At forty, my young ones,
Now grown, will soon be gone,
But my man stays beside me,
To see I don't mourn.
At fifty once more,
babies play round my knee.
Again we know children,
My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me,
My husband is dead,
I look at the future,
I shudder with dread,
For my young are all busy,
Rearing young of their own,
And I thin of the years
And the love I have known.
I'm an old woman now,
And nature is cruel.
'tis her jest to make old age
To look like a fool.
The body is crumbled,
Grace and vigor depart.
There is now a stone
Where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass,
A young girl still dwells,
And now and again
My battered heart swells.
I remember the joys,
I remember the pain,
And I'm loving and living
Life over again.
I think of the years,
All too few,
Gone to fast,
And accept the stark fact
that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, nurses,
Open and see,
Not a crabby old woman;
Look closer ... see ME.
