    BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CRUEL

Even the people that show some sensibility toward the environment , that want to protect the biodiversity …sometimes we are being tremendously unjust by ignorance.

I am going to explain:  I go shopping... and if I find something that I like or something that need, I buy it ... I don't think anything

BUT…Cosmetic companies usually do not have scruples. The product that they sell  has glamour, is beautiful and well presented and many times it is very expensive… that it be expensive is not sign that it be insurance, at times the frivolity can cost us very expensive in our health.

Besides of the possible secondary effects (for example: lipsticks with lead in their composition) we should value the BEFORE… the majority of the cosmetic companies and of cleaning of the home test their products in animals before putting them to sale.

Why?  When I buy a shampoo for my dog, it cannot be a shampoo for people, the hair of a dog has nothing to do with ours. If  the cosmetics are for humans, the logical thing is that the tests be carried out in humans… I looking for information for this post I have found unlimited barbarities, authentic atrocities that  I didn't know and that have left my soul shrunk and with a sensation of infinite sadness.

I have proposed me to be an INTELLIGENT BUYER,  report me before and when really I need a product, to be sure that has not been tested on animals (at times is difficult  to know it, the businesses try to hide it, is damaging for the sales).

Only the 10% of the 85000 cosmetic products  have been analyzed to control the possible adverse effects that can cause in our health… The frivolity is being very expensive for us...  really we do not know what we are using, although before we have tested it in animals.

For example: If the cosmetic is a foam to shave ¿why they put it to presion to an animal in his stomach?... If it is a tooth-paste ¿why  rabbits, rats and guinea pigs are forced to swallow it? …

Why animals have to suffer for that we be more good-looking?

Numbers are scandalous... more than 400 million animals die yearly in the world on account of the experimentation, 60 million  are dead by cosmetic tests.

Really I believe that we have to change our  priorities, changing our scale of values and trying to meet again the equilibrium with the environment, that is the way, protecting  the biodiversity and the different habitats, acting as "the absolute owners of the world" only will carry us to a announced disaster

It will be ideal to find  products hypoallergenics, free of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics  … and the products that are not tested in animals usually are cheaper

Talking about SAUDADE PAGE FOUR OR FIVE

    Quote

    SAUDADE PAGE FOUR OR FIVE
    SAUDADE,
A poem in my own words inspired by JouElam+SophiE  http://Eloha.spaces.live.com

INTRODUCTION:  SAUDADE is a Portugese word that was given
to me in love and friendship.  I can not translate this word, I
can only write what I feel.

    Saudade

    Echo in the valley
    Cry in the night
    Free and alone
    Trickle in the
    moon lit streams
    That flow from
    My eyes
    onto the windows
    In the keypad
    That scratches
    Only a high held note
    The Violin
    Trembles
    Splashing wine
    On streets that shine
    With tears soaked in
    Memory
    Of those near and dear.
Of those that have ever been and ever shall be.
    Of those that have risen'
    Of those that sing
    Of those that are
    Of the Light and Spirit.
Of the woods, rain, forests, grasses, trees, limbs and
    Leaf sparkle
    Dew drip dawning
    Rainbow brow smile
    Reflect the night Sky
    Stars
    Dance in
    The glistening drop
    Waving at the shore
Foaming and breaking on the rocks
    Receed, Smile at the Moon.
    Reflect in the pond
    Skipping stones
    and remember.
    SAUDADE,
    Home is where the
    Art is, forever home
    Or away
    Within the All.

SAUDADE!  As ever be well.  With love,  Stephen Craig Rowe

    Saudade

    Ecoa no vale

    pranto na noite

    livre e abandonada

    lua de fluxos brilhantes

    iluminando os minúsculos córregos

    que escorrem debruçados

    nas janelas dos meus olhos

    apenas a tecla em arrepios

    tremúlos

    é o sustenido

    o violino

    segurando uma nota altíssima

derramando o vinho do nosso copo

    luz do espírito

dos bosques, das florestas , das chuvas , da relva , das arvores , dos troncos , das folhas

    faísca

    gota d' orvalho amanhecendo

    sorriso na sobrancelha do arco-íris

    estrelas

    reflectidas no Céu noturno

    about THE ENVIRONMENT

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

    More information:

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

I am not going to speak of large campaigns... I want to speak of the day by day, with small acts ,we can achieve a great change...

Who says to making changes is an easy task?  We are used to a "culture of well-being", to the "I want something, and I want it now"... and then, I already do not want it and throw it away, because the most comfortable and cheaper thing to do is to replace it with a newer one instead of re-using it.

We all know that the substancial changes are executed from above: from the political power of every country... we are also aware that we are the ones who select the politicians.

How are citizens supposed to collaborate, so that things are change? How can we contribute in the protection of the biodiversity and of the environment?

It is kind of complicated. First, we have to fight against ourselves; we are constantly looking for comfort, getting sluggish, using things and then thowing them away, and looking for instant self-satisfaction (otherwise we get frustrated)... We have to stop acting childish; we are not children anymore; so, there is no excuse. It is time for us to act as mature adults.

Examples:  -It is easier to use paper napkins rather than cloth ones.

                       - It is more comfortable for us to let the supermarket provide us with bags than taking our own ones.

                       - Why setting the heater to a high temperature and then having to open the windows?

We have to seriously ask ourselves what benefits we are getting in the long run. It es much easier to throw away all the garbage without separating the different components; it is simpler to throw away rather than to re-use... But to recycle in the long rus is cheaper for all of us because the recycled product reduce the need to cut trees, of using oil or another type of energy and water an air will be less contaminated. We will definitely improve the environment and feel much better...

What's better than to put into practice the Law or 3 R: To reduce, To re-use an To recycle

TO REDUCE the consumption of energy and of all kinds of polluting products, to reduce the quantity of garbage that we generate by buying in the corret form ( avoiding unnecessary packing)

TO RE-USE: use bags several times before throwing them away, using boxes again (for keeping things) instead of buying new ones; to re-use paper, crystal bottles; use canisters to keep the pencils...

TO RECYCLE: separate plastic, paper, aluminum or glass in the designated containers... It is possible to recover up to 40% of the paper and cardboard helping keep more trees intact.

I do not say that it is an easy and comfortable task, we are used to wasting. Wd do not have much time left; the no return point is closer than what we think. Not only we have to meke changes ourselves, but also we have to teach our children to live in tune with the environment as well: taking care of the biodiversity, loving the other living things with which we share habitat; after all, we are closely attached since we depend from one another. If we finish with the environment, we are unleashing our own end.

Ways in which we can collaborate:

Estrella - Choosing recycling products and recyclables.

Estrella - Buying organic products in which chemicals or pesticides have not been used.

Estrella - Distributing the garbage at home selectively.

Estrella - Using recycled paper... using glass instead of plastic.

Estrella - Not using products that damage the ozone layer.

Estrella - Buying cosmetic products that have not been animal tested.

Estrella - Turning off those lights that we do not need.

Still is not to late to make changes... Let's remember: Whoever wants to make a change, can do it... and whoever can do it, must do it.

Talking about Painting Studio and Flying Monkeys Online International New World News

Painting Studio and Flying Monkeys Online International New World News
The PAINTING STUDIO and FLYING MONKEYS MSN WINDOWS LIVE SPACES NEW WORLD NEWS.
In one of my wilder dreams while recovering from surgery a few years ago I created FLYING MONKEYS as an international collaboration of friends.  Who became Contributing Editors, Roving Reporters or whatever.  As founder and managing editor, I remained in the background and let the FLYING MONKEYS Space evlove on it's own.   The works and words contributed were beyond my concept and a great beauty and peace prevailed with the efforts of my friends.  Without guide lines, rules, or a plan....everyone contributed for the betterment.
On Friday October 12 of this year I received an urgent message that Flying Monkeys had been deleted.  For a moment my heart quit beating and the dream became WTF?   I was like all that fine work is cactus ( as in cactus fuktus ).  My Dear Friend Sassene was quick enough to pick up some of the pieces and bring the FLYING MONKEYS back to life.  She worked late in the night for the banner and headline.  We will not change that out of love and respect.   Other than that, there are no rules only conscience, respect, quality and desire for the betterment.  This is not about me or my dream.  I am only a simple painter and sometimes bad poet.  Who needs the world and the space between the words, and the Light.
As ever be well.  With love, Stephen Craig Rowe

I came across this poem on Sandra's space http://sanddeemc.spaces.live.com/ .  It touched me as it touched her - each for our own reasons.  May it touch you as well.

    An Old Woman
(Note: This poem was found in the bedside table of an elderly woman living in an extended care facility upon her death.) It is unfortunate that the author is not noted.

    What do you see nurses,
    What do you see?
    Are you thinking,
    When you look at me;
    A crabby old woman,
    Not very wise
    Uncertain of habit,
    With far away eyes,
    Who dribbles her food,
    And makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice
     'I do wish you'd try',
    Who seems not to notice
    The things that you do,
    And forever is losing
    A stocking or shoe,
    Who, unresisting or not,
Lets you do as you will,
    With bathing and feeding,
    The long day to fill,
    Is that what you're thinking,
    Is that what you see?
    Then open your eyes nurse.
    You're not looking at me.
As I'll tell you who I am,
As I sit here so still,
As I rise at your bidding,
As I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of ten
    With a mother and father
    Brothers and sisters,
    Who love one another,
    A young girl of sixteen,
    With wings on her feet,
    Dreaming that soon now
    A lover she'll meet;
    A bride soon at twenty;
    My heart gives a leap,
    Remembering the vows
    That I promised to keep;
    At twenty-five now
I have young of my own,
    Who need me to build
    A secure, happy home.
    A young woman of thirty,
    My young now grow fast,
    Bound to each other
    With ties that should last;
    At forty, my young ones,
Now grown, will soon be gone,
But my man stays beside me,
    To see I don't mourn.
    At fifty once more,
    babies play round my knee.
    Again we know children,
    My loved one and me.
    Dark days are upon me,
    My husband is dead,
    I look at the future,
    I shudder with dread,
For my young are all busy,
    Rearing young of their own,
And I thin of the years
And the love I have known.
    I'm an old woman now,
    And nature is cruel.
'tis her jest to make old age
    To look like a fool.
    The body is crumbled,
    Grace and vigor depart.
    There is now a stone
Where I once had a heart.
    But inside this old carcass,
    A young girl still dwells,
    And now and again
    My battered heart swells.
    I remember the joys,
    I remember the pain,
    And I'm loving and living
    Life over again.
    I think of the years,
    All too few,
    Gone to fast,
    And accept the stark fact
    that nothing can last.
    So open your eyes, nurses,
    Open and see,
    Not a crabby old woman;
    Look closer ... see ME.

    Real People with Feelings

Stephen feels the importance in introducing his visitors to real people. Jeremy is one of them, he is deaf, confined in wheelchair since birth. Despite his bad English writings, and disability, he is a real person with feelings. Just like many other handicapped people, they can cry, laugh, and express themselves. They can just do pretty much almost everything as we can do.

Maybe they cannot walk like us, but they can move around with the assistance of wheelchair or walkers. They may not be able to hear, but they can see. They may not be able to see but they can feel, and hear things. It's us people that take things for granted in this world. We tend to look down on these people thinking that we are better than them. There is no such a thing as imperfection in my opinion. I truly believe that we all are created perfect in God's eyes regardless of any flaws that we might possess.

Stephen and I were talking about how people can be so intimidated by handicapped people. We both wish that people would stop being so judgmental, and help one others. There are too many people lacking compassion in this society. It is our duty to figure out a way to reach out to everyone, and be an example of what a good person should be. We may not be rich, nor somebody famous, but we are real. We have feelings, and have the dreams to make this world a better place. I was thinking of how we can do that. I've told Stephen that in order for us to help one others, we must start within ourselves. Take a good look in the mirror, and see if there is anything that needs to be fixed first. We cannot help other people if we are not taking good care of ourselves.

The problem with this society is that people tend to take things for granted. They tend to fight for power, money, and fame that they forget that life is not all about that. Life is about how you make it, and how you give one others of yourself, and the love that you give. Love should be unconditional, and free. Love is the best gift of all. Not everyone is fortunate to know what love is. In order to know love, you must have compassion, and respect for one others.

It is the INJUSTICE  in this world that angers us. We strive to make a difference in our world. We want to make our world a better place to live, but we cannot do it alone. We need your help in any way you can provide. We would appreciate whatever you can afford to give, or free time to volunteer. In order for us to succeed in carrying out our plan to make this world a better place, we need more helping hands.

There are many children without wheelchairs because their families are too poor to afford one. Believe me, I would know, because I am living with Jeremy, and his wheelchair is not so cheap. It costs over 4,000 dollars just for basic wheelchair that is comfortable enough to last a whole day in. There was this 6 years old boy that his poor family struggled to pay 10 thousand dollars for a special custom wheelchair, and it got stolen by some gang. I thought it was so downright cruel. Why can't people just respect our things instead of seeing our things as "valuable" stuff. Just because we paid for certain things that we need to get around does not mean that we are rich or whatever. Speaking of charities, there are programs that you can help donate money to where they will provide the needs to handicapped children around the world. You can make a huge difference in a person's life by being a giver without expecting anything in return.

Stephen asked me to please ask you to please give support to the Flying Monkeys space, he was saddened that no one gives a frank to visit it and leave comments. Please do not be rude not to leave a comment. Please take a minute out of your busy schedule to visit and pay your respect. There are people that working hard to make Flying Monkeys space a good place to go to. The problem is that people tend to be judgmental like people don't bother to visit Jeremy's space because of his poor English writing or nonsense pictures, but he is a real person with feelings! People don't stop and think that maybe Jeremy gets hurt whenever he checks his stats to see who came into his space, and realize no one bothered to leave a comment not even to say "Hi"! It hurts me to see Jeremy get hurt, but that's the real world. I don't care if no one visits my space, I don't consider myself to be important, but I would appreciate it very much if you would please respect Stephen enough to visit the links that he put up on his posts. Please have a heart.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read this post. Have a good one!
    With regards,

    The Flying Monkeys

Once upon a time, there was a man with the vision to make a difference in this world through his words, poetry, and paintings. His name was Stephen Craig Rowe. Before he was turning his vision into a reality, he was painting, and before he knew it, he painted monkeys. Stephen got this brilliant idea to paint the wings on the monkeys, thus created the flying monkeys. Stephen was proud of his work, and before he knew it, the flying monkeys came to life off the canvas.

The flying monkeys stood before Stephen and saluted, thanking him for bringing them to life. In return, they wanted to do something for him. Stephen smiled and told them that he had a dream of going around the world to make it a better place. He explained to them that he is not going to be able to do it alone as his time is limited, and that he would appreciate their help in making his dream into a reality. The flying monkeys told him that they were willing to go around the world to spread the word, and help one others.

Stephen smiled, and gave them the gold key. He said to them, "The key is yours to make this world a better place." The flying monkeys nodded, saluted and off they went. While the first few flying monkeys going around the world, other monkeys were inspired to become a part of the flying monkeys empire. Before Stephen knew, his vision was growing, and growing, the flying monkey empire had grew beyond his wildest dreams. That was until the bad force came along.

One day, a bad force had came to destroy Stephen's dream. While the bad force might have succeeded, but what they did not know that Stephen had a few loyal flying monkeys. Even though all the hard work were destroyed, but their spirits lived on, so did Stephen's dream. A few loyal flying monkeys went on to help rebuild this empire that was once great in hope to make it an even better and greater empire.

Once this empire is restablished, Stephen is going to need your help by becoming a part of his flying monkeys empire to make a difference in this world. You can help make Stephen turn his dream into a reality. Let us show the bad force that we will never be silenced, and that the flying monkeys home is here to stay!
